ASCP Certification Requirements: Complete Eligibility Guide for MLS, MLT and Specialists

MLS(ASCP) — Medical Laboratory Scientist

Specialist credentials

  • Defined years of full-time experience in the specialty area
  • Some require current certification in another ASCP credential

  • Official transcripts sent directly from your institution
  • Programme director verification (accredited programme routes)
  • Employer verification of experience (experience routes)
  • Application fee payment
  • Good standing declaration

Recertification requirements

ASCP BOC credentials must be renewed every 3 years through the Credential Maintenance Program (CMP), which requires a minimum number of continuing education credits across defined categories.
