CSMLS Certification Requirements: What You Need to Qualify

RTT (Registered Transfusion Technologist)

The RTT credential is a specialist certification for transfusion medicine, requiring a current MLT(CSMLS) certification and defined experience in blood transfusion.

Cytotechnologist

Requires completion of a CSMLS-accredited cytotechnology programme — a specialist programme separate from the general MLT pathway.

International credential assessment

  • Educational equivalency to Canadian MLT standards
  • Clinical practicum equivalency
  • Programme accreditation status in the country of training
  • Language proficiency (English or French)
